A river launch is one of the best and most relaxing ways to enjoy African wildlife. As part of a safari tour, a river trip offers great wildlife viewing from a new perspective.
Always conducted by the best guides, you will learn everything you want to know, and then a little bit more, about local wildlife.
Take an afternoon for a river safari, sit back, relax and be amazed.
Tours take 2-5 hours and are packed full of hippo, buffalo and crocodiles. Other large mammals are often seen as they come to drink at the river; elephant, leopards and antelope such as Uganda kob and waterbuck, are common.
The bird watching on boat trips is, not surprisingly, excellent.
In Uganda, river launches are possible at Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo. A guided canoe tour is also possible at Katonga.
In Tanzania, Selous Game Reserve is the home of river launches.
