QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Queen Elizabeth National Park is the gem in Uganda’s crown. The most popular and accessible of the Ugandan savannah reserves, it boasts one of the most diverse eco-systems in Africa.

Savannah, rainforest, wetlands and crater lakes are home to 95 species of mammal (the highest in any Ugandan park) and 610 bird species (perhaps the highest of any African reserve).

ISHASHA

Ishasha is Queen Elizabeth’s often bypassed and wild southern sector. It is a dry, savannah region with great game viewing. In particular, keep an eye out for its tree climbing lions.

Activities

Game drives are the main attraction but by no means all that there is. Try chimpanzee tracking, superb bird watching, primate tours, a boat launch in the Kazinga Channel and forest walks.

When

The dry season (June – September) draws many species to the water, making for easier viewing.

In the wet season (October – December) many roads become impassable.
