8 Days Tour Rwanda

An opportunity to see habituated colonies of golden monkeys in an equatorial forest, as well as track a troop of chimpanzees. Rwanda’s volcanoes are an unforgettable sight.

Days1
Arrival Kigali

Arrival and transfer to Kigali town for check-in and overnight stay at Hotel des Collines (booked on a bed and breakfast basis). Hotel des Collines is featured in the Oscar Winning movie ‘Hotel Rwanda’.

Days2
Kigali-Nyungwe wildlife

Breakfast at your leisure before heading to the Nyungwe Forest on an easy 260km transit. Attractions along the way include the National Museum of Butare and the Genocide Memorial of Murambi.

After lunch in Butare, your Rwanda tour takes you to the Gisakura Guest House for dinner and overnight stay.

Days3
Primate Walk Nyungwe

An early start in this equatorial forest teeming with wildlife, including colonies of the black and white colubus and the habituated colonies of golden monkeys.

After the morning forest safari, you will return for lunch and have the evening at your leisure before dinner and overnight stay at the Gisakura Guest House.

Days4
Chimpanzee Trekking–Bethaine

A very early morning start for the Rwanda chimpanzee tour. The guides will be tracking a troop of habituated chimps. We return for lunch then take a leisurely four-hour drive through some magnificent scenery on the way to Bethanie Guest House.

Meals and overnight stay will be here.

Days5
Volcanoes

A drive up to the volcanoes, heading for Kinigi on winding roads. Have lunch in Gisenyi before driving through some beautiful scenic points before heading up into the volcanoes for dinner and overnight stay at Gorillas Nest Lodge.

Days6
Gorilla trekking

Enjoy your morning breakfast before assembling for a briefing by the ranger guides. This gorilla tour involves some strenuous trekking, and will take a couple of hours before a gorilla group is encountered. The gorillas will be observed for approximately one hour before heading back to the hotel for lunch.

Your evening is free to explore the nearby villages on foot or by safari vehicle before returning for dinner and overnight stay at Gorillas Nest Lodge.

Days7
Dian Fossey trek

Your Rwenzori adventure guide will lead you for the full day visit to the Karisoke Research Centre, established by the famous Dr Dian Fossey. The movie ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ was shot here, and you can visit the graves of Dian Fossey and her beloved mountain gorillas.

Return in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at Gorillas Nest Lodge.

Departure

You will drive and return to Kigali on a nice winding road, taking approximately two hours to the airport for your flight home.
